Introducing Juniorifolk

JUNIORIFOLK

Children, young people, folk music students and professionals join their playing forces in the Saturday evening concert of Samuelin Poloneesi at the House of Nobility in Helsinki on Saturday 16 March 2023 at 7 pm.

In the first-ever Juniorifolk concert, the 35-member Folk Big Band of the Sibelius Academy of the University of the Arts Helsinki, made up of folk music students and teachers and led by Roope Aarnio, is reinforced by Marja-Riitta Topcu's folk music groups from the Vantaa Music Institute.

The concert features material from the Folk Big Band's record, to be released in 2024, reinforced by junior players, as well as the Vantaa Music Institute folk music groups' own repertoire supported by the Folk Big Band. The concert also includes the premiere of a brand-new piece for the Folk Big Band by Ilona Hollmén, a student at the Espoo Music Institute.
